A Counselor’s Guide to Christian Mindfulness: Engaging the Mind, Body, and Soul in Biblical Practices and Therapies

<strong>A Counselor’s Guide to Christian Mindfulness: Engaging the Mind, Body, and Soul in Biblical Practices and Therapies</strong> by Regina John Trammel and John Trent. I thought this was clearly written from an evangelical Christian perspective and the authors clearly have a strong grasp of the material. For a person trying to find a “how to” guide for the layman the amount of information intended for professional counselors might seem a little daunting. I wish that the authors would produce a shorter book for non-counselors to function as a self-help guide. I somewhat prefers meditation books to have meditations organized at the end of an audio book with the different meditations given titles that indicate their purpose. You can create this sort of this for yourself by using the bookmark function in the Audible App. The book’s chapter title’s suggest particular types of meditation. Chapter 17 is entitled “progressive muscle relaxation with Christian Mindfulness” but I found this 19 minute long chapter to have much material to have a lot of material describing the general purpose of the meditation whereas what I would really like is simply a short audio file that I can listen to on my earbuds and going straight into it. Having said that this book is uniquely valuable in its detailed treatment of mindfulness from a Christian perspective. I hope there is a 2nd edition with the audio meditations organized at the end as appendices so you can find them quickly.
